30.04. Miguel Azguime Azguime, geb.
"At this Electroakustische Musik Hören, I will be presenting a journey through 9 years of the Lisbon's Musica Viva Electroacoustic composition competition, a competition for those under 35 years old, which as revealed several emergent young composers since 1999.
Every year a different international jury select up to 3 pieces. Greatest composers of the recent electro acoustic history have been part of the jury, including such names as Henri Pousseur, Bernard Parmegiani, Francis Dhomont, Jean-Claude Risset, James Dashow, François Bayle, Trevor Wishart, to name just a few... Different point of views, different aesthetics... Their choices are imprinted in the broad types of pieces that will be presented which will include works by Gustavo Costa, José Luís Ferreira, Ian Corbett, Adrian Moore, Panayotis Kokoras, Ingrid Obled, Manuella Blackburn, Thomas Peter, Pei-Yu Shi, Arturo Fuentes, Daniel Blinkhorn, Jason L. Bolte."

18.06. Ricardo Climent Climent will be showcasing some collaborative work between the NOVARS Research Centre in Manchester, UK, and other UK institutions. For example, a creative project with the Astro-Physics department using live data from the radio telescope at Jodrell Bank in England; a sound installation at Quarry Bank Mill (sounds of manchester industrial revolution); an exclusive audiovisual work (unseen for 40 years) of the BBC Radiophonic workshop from the Delia Derbyshire Archive; a controversial artistic project of video-hacking surveillance systems and some of his recent research borderline with academic goals.
His discussion aims to be a personal reflection beyond compositional choices: Low or high culture?; Academia or entertaining industry? Centres of excellence... centres of bureaucracy?; Commercial software or open source?; Institutional environments of self-organised collectives?; Copyrighted or infringed? Cutting-edge technology or clever reinventions? Iconic architecture or mutant and nomad organisations?
Ricardo Climent is a music composer based in UK since 1997 and currently living in Berlin on research leave. He is co-director of the NOVARS Research Centre and Senior Lecturer in Music Technology at University of Manchester, UK. Previously, he lectured at SARC, Sonic Arts Research Centre, Belfast where he gained a master and PhD in composition. Ricardo has served as Resident Composer at the Kunitachi, Tokyo; Conservatorio de las Rosas, Mexico; TUB-Berlin; LEAlab -Valencia and CARA (Celebrating Arts in Rural Areas) and In-You-we-Trust, Ireland. His musical output includes a wide spectrum of choices, from orchestral music using dynamic and graphical scores, to chamber music for a bunch of microbes, also, education workshops with fruits, vegetables and electronics (duo with Iain McCurdy) and 3D works as 'Ho' for his new Navigation System Through Sound. 25.06.Åsa StjernaEM / Klangkunst aus Schwede. Åsa schreibt:
In EM-Hören the 25th of June I will make a presentation of five Swedish EM and sound art-pieces from three different decades which are using the deconstruction of the human voice and the fragmentation of the semantic qualities of the language as artistic strategies.
Siehe auch Zeitschrift "Organized Sound April 2009": Sound Art or Klangkunst? A reading of the German and English literature on sound art by ANDREAS ENGSTROEM and ÅSA STJERNA
The tradition of working with text and voice in Sweden is often connected to the so called Swedish text-sound tradition from the 60's and the 70's, often inspired by concrete poetry.
In this presentation, however I will present some compositions including voice and language made after the Swedish "text-sound era". I will discuss compositions made by Rolf Enström (Tjidtjag och Tjidtjaggaise/ 1986 (21.11)), Åke Parmerud (Grains of Voices/ 1996 (31.11)), Susanne Myrén-Skog (Singing/ 2007 (9.26)), Erik Bünger (Let them sing it for you/ 2004 (demonstration of a internet based art piece - mehr))... and a newly made public sound installation by Åsa Sterna (Avenue of Books/ 2009 (photo documentation of a sound installation)).
Åsa Sterna is a Swedish artist working with sound and also as a musicologist, teaching at the faculty of musicology at the university of Stockholm.
