Presentation of Icelandic Electro-Acoustic music
29.01.2004

Iceland is not a very big country. Actually it is a rather small country compared to many, with a population of only 280 000 people. Inspite of how few we Icelanders are, we have some very well known musicians, Björk ofcourse being our biggest star. Icelandic Electro-Acoustic music is a subject that not so many people outside of Iceland (or even in Iceland) know so much about. We were asked to give a presentation of that kind of music wich we are very glad to do.
We will be telling the story of Icelandic E-A music both in words and music (mostly in music).

We will start our presentation with playing the first E-A pieces ever made in Iceland composed by Magnús Blöndal Jóhannsson.
Then we will go through the history up to today, playing pieces by Thorsteinn Hauksson, Ríkardur H. Fridriksson, Kjartan Ólafsson, Thurídur Jónsdóttir and Atli Ingólfsson to name a few.

These composers give a pretty good picture of what has been going on in Iceland since we started playing with tapes. Ofcourse there are many more good pieces, but unfortunately we only have a couple af hours to go through the hole history.

We think people interested in this field might enjoy listening to music from the island up north and therefor we hope to see you all there.

Enjoy
Hildur and Óli Björn
